Social Interaction and the City:

The Effect of Space on the Reduction of Entropy

How can seemingly chaotic individual acts amount to coherent systems of interaction? We suggest that there is a place for cities in the way we coordinate decisions and deal with uncertainty and unpredictability.

Essentially, we propose that, as an information environment, space becomes a form of creating differences in the probabilities of interaction – a necessary condition for the reduction of social entropy.
